3 ways to help you increase your blog traffic

Be Unique - You need to provide unique content to visitors to your site so they come back, subscribe, follow you on twitter, comment, and link to your site. As you can see from our approach above, we try to cover stories from a unique perspective or cover smaller topics that get less publicity. Read your competitors blogs and understand how they view the topics they write about. Try taking a contrarian viewpoint, digging deeper into the topic, and generally providing new and different insight and information to generate interest in your site.

Use The Right Keywords  - If you re not writing about a topic the same way that your potential audience talks about it then many potentially interested visitors may never find your site. Optimizing your site to reflect the way individuals search for your market will help you increase your traffic. Google s Keyword Tool is a great source for finding out how people search about a topic. Enter in some of the keywords you ve used on past articles and then let the Google tool show you how many people are searching for those words. The tool also provides synonyms or potentially different ways to word the topics you ve written about and will show you the way most people search for particular topics. By making the words and terms in your site match the way individuals search for them you ll make it easy for Google, Bing, and Yahoo to know that each topic you re writing about may have the answers that people are searching for. Go back through your old blogs posts and check to see if the words you used on a topic match the way that people search for that topic. If not, make the quick changes to your blog post titles, page titles, bolded keywords, etc so that they reflect the most popular search terms. This alone will help increase your monthly traffic.

Utilize Analytics   - If you re not utilizing blog traffic analysis tools like Google Analytics on your blog then you re missing out on essential information that can help you make your blog a huge success. Google Analytics and many other web analytic software services are free and easy to incorporate into your blog. Analytical input must be part of every article you write. Google Analytics will provide you with all the keywords used in search phrases that lead visitors to your site and breaks the information down post by post. Look at the keywords that drive traffic to your site.

Useful links 4 u - 13 Best photo sites for CC0 and Public Domain Licensed Images

High quality CC-licensed images are easy. The majority of the collections include images that fall under the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 2.0 license. While these images are fine for blogging, they cannot be distributed with GPL-licensed software.
CC0 is a public domain dedication from Creative Commons. A work released under CC0 is dedicated to the public domain to the fullest extent permitted by law. If that is not possible for any reason, CC0 also provides a lax, permissive license as a fallback. Both public domain works and the lax license provided by CC0 are compatible with the GNU GPL.
If you are distributing a GPL-licensed product with images, such as a WordPress theme or plugin, your best bet is to opt for using images with the CC0 or Public Domain license.

Increase Traffic Through On-Page SEO

Keywords are the single most important aspect of on-page SEO for the Internet. Therefore, before writing a word of content, it is extremely important to develop a list of keywords that potential readers will be use to find the web page. Keyword lists on a variety of topics are easily found online. However, brainstorming keywords based on the subject of the written content can be just as effective. The importance of picking the right keywords is paramount to producing high-ranking web pages and should not be overlooked. The prominence, order, and density of keywords on the web page are vitally important in how search engines ultimately index and rank web pages. The title of the web page is the most important attribute of the web page and therefore, should include one or more keywords. Next in importance for the use of keywords are any headers or bolded words in the content. Finally, keyword density within the body text should generally be roughly between five to twenty percent depending on the subject matter. Pages that contain keywords that are located close to each other also tend to rank higher.

The next most important factor affecting page rank is the usage of hyperlinks within a web page. Links should be relevant to the content and care should be taken to choose keywords to describe the links. The actual length of the hyper-link and filename can also affect the relevancy of the link to the web page. It is obvious that dead links should not be used, but often overlooked is the need to return to web pages after a certain time has passed to ensure the links still point to their original location. As essential as the use of keywords and links are, there are penalties for use of “bad” keywords and links. Any vile language or ethnic slurs will definitely have a negative effect on page ranking. The practice of ‘keyword stuffing” should be avoided as most search engines can detect when keyword density has exceeded a certain threshold for a particular topic. Any links to inappropriate content and excessive use of cross-linking will also severely downgrade page ranking. When attempting to maximize the amount of traffic to a web page, the importance of a web page’s rank within the Internet’s top search engines cannot be over-emphasized. While there are many SEO techniques to improve a page ranking, on-page content is certainly the easiest to control. Through the careful choice and placement of keywords and hyperlinks when developing content, a Webmaster can create consistently high ranking web pages. Care must also be taken to avoid the pitfalls of keyword and hyperlink usage to minimize penalties assessed by most modern complex Internet search engine algorithms.

The Traffic That Craigslist.org Gets

aYou may be asking now, if you don't know, what is Craigslist.org? Well, in the simplest term, Craigslist is a massive classified ad site. And it is hugely popular because it is so simple to use as well. It gets its name from its founder Craig Newmark and it began operating way back in 1995 or 1996 in the San Francisco Bay Area. But now their traffic is enormous, serving billions of pages per month and so, you are going to find out how to leverage the traffic that Craigslist gets.
For a start, Craigslist.org is one of the 20 most visited websites in the Internet according to Alexa.com, even though is mainly directed towards the US, Canada and the UK, it may soon open to other countries. It is a place where you can buy something, sell almost anything even cars and where you can meet people, find jobs etc. And it is completely free, except job listings for employers. So Craigslist can help a lot of people most of the time, which is one very important principle of its founder's first intention when he started Craigslist.
You can start by posting an ad, clicking on "post to classifieds", once you are in their website Craigslist.org, choosing the category where you want to post it, and telling viewers what the ad is about, where you want to be contacted, whether at Craigslist or to your own personal email address. And this is done automatically from Craigslist if you ask them so you don't have to give your personal email address to the public. You can also add an image at the bottom. And when your ad is completed, and checking that is fine, write the caption you see and continue.
Go to your email address that you were using and click the verification link inside the email. You will then be brought to a page to inspect your ad and approve it. Make sure the links in your add are correct and work properly, the spelling in you ad is right and then click to publish your ad. And voila! Your ad is online in Craigslist.org.
You can sell physical products and in fact, selling things from around your house, things like jewellery for example, are a good way to make a start with selling things on Craigslist. If you wanted to sell things like bracelets, watches etc. you could set up an online mini store, go to Craigslist and post a classified add in the jewellery category. In the ad you would ask visitors to go to your own jewellery website for more listings of jewellery.
The chances are good that when visitors arrive at your website, they can find what they are looking after and make a purchase and thus becoming your customers to whom you can make further offers later.
Your ads can be posted in different cities, countries etc. so you do not have to limit yourself to just one city or country. Post the same ad in ten or twenty different cities and in several countries to leverage the success of the one ad that works, or several ads that are successful.
What you then need is tracking your ads to see where they perform the best or which ones sell the most and use this knowledge to leverage your results and profits online. But this is only one of the strategies you can use with Craigslist, because there are so many other ways to make money with Craigslist.
Yes, you can sell affiliate programs and products very successfully with Craigslist as well. So, for instance, in the previous ad for jewellery, you could place an affiliate link to an online jewellery site, and when the customer clicks on the affiliate link and makes a purchase, you get a commission for the sale of the product.
Remember that we you can also make ads about jobs, ideas, events etc. etc. so the possibilities from Craigslist are really too great to go into detail within the scope of this article.
Finally, always use ethical ways about postings, or you may be flagged by Craigslist's user flagging system which identifies illegal or inappropriate postings. On the hole, provided you strictly conduct your presence in Craigslist with ethical business values, according to Craigslist terms and conditions, you will have nothing but great experiences in marketing online with Craigslist.org.

5 simple ways to increase your blog traffic are:

1 - Posting in Forums.
2 - Writing Articles.
3 - Social Bookmarking.
4 - Search Engine Optimization.
5 - Link Building.

1.  Posting in Forums.
Search for forums in your niche. In these blogs you can post answers to questions of members in the forums.  When you do this the forum members trust you and respect you as an expert in your niche. Then they visit your blog for more information.

2. Writing Articles.
Write articles on the topics relating to your niche. Then submit these articles to hundreds of article directories on the web. This generates instant rush of targeted website traffic and also hundreds of inbound links. You will also receive high search engine ranking by writing and submitting articles, thus more traffic to your blog.

3. Social Bookmarking.
If you want to increase your web presence visit social bookmarking sites.  These sites can really boost up your website traffic.  All you need to do is write quality articles in your niche that readers will love to share with their friends and family members.

4. Search Engine Optimization.
Here's what you need to do. Write quality unique content in your niche and sprinkle your keywords all around your site. Focus your efforts in getting tons of incoming links to your site, there are number of ways to do this. This will boost up your search engine ranking and thus more traffic.

5. Link Building.
For this you need to setup a reciprocal linking campaign where you can exchange links with quality blogs in your niche and thus share traffic with each other.

Some other ways of getting traffic

You can also consider these ways of getting traffic:

1.  Article Distribution – Writing articles about what can be found on your blog and distributing
them to article directories with a link to your blog included in every article you write.

2.  Participate in Forums that are related to your blog content  - Post your opinion or expertise on the subject matter, and over time you’ll be allowed add a link to your blog with every post you make.

3.  Add lots of related links to your blog – This is reciprocal linking, and this will improve your search engine ranking for more traffic.  If you have a weight loss blog you should link to other weight loss related blogs like health, fitness, diet, exercise.

4.  Use Pay Per Click (PPC) – Brings in quality traffic but it can get costly if you don’t know
what you’re doing. Every time someone visits your blog it will cost you a pre-determined
amount usually a few cents. It's recommended  to set your limit on how much you are ready to spend on this.

Getting traffic to your new blog

So you’ve just finished creating your new blog. It looks good and you are ready for the visitors, you can’t wait for the traffic to come. Here are a few things you could start with:

1. Submit your blog to the Search Engines - If you want people to find your site then you should start by submitting your blog to the biggest 3 engines, which are Google Yahoo and MSN. They will find your blog eventually without submit to them but why to wait. You should also submit your blog to all the other lesser-known search engines because some people don’t or can’t use the big 3.

2. Submit your blog to Directories - People go here to find other blogs. Provides good incoming links when your blog is listed on directories, which can over time increase your blog’s popularity and SE rankings.

3. Submit your blog to Classifieds - This was once considered to be an excellent way to get traffic to your blog but not as effective today, however, it still could be worth your effort.

Place link in Yahoo Answers

At Yahoo! Answers, the people who answer provide free answers. Answer some questions there. In your answers, you can list "sources" (links) for more details.

The "asker" can vote a particular answer the "Best Answer" and that answer is given special prominence. Other users can vote, too. If you click on the "Report Abuse" link and check the available categories, you'll see that "advertisements" are banned.

Rather than posting an affiliate link, link to your own website.

Submit to niche directories

Search for smaller, specialist directories in your niche. For example, if your site is on a hoby topic, look for hoby-related directories. How to find niche directories:

• search in google for "Specialty Hubs and Directories"
• get your search results. You should be able to find relevant, themed hub sites and directories which will list your site. Some charge a fee, some are free.

Use appropriate keywords in your image file names.

You can get hundreds of visits a month from people who are searching for images.

Google Images - http://images.google.com - makes it easy for people to search for graphics online.

To take advantage of this, when choosing the file name of an image on your site, use an appropriate key phrase, for example, "book.jpg" if you're promoting books.

ADDING fresh, relevant, useful content.

The more pages you build full of on-topic material, the better the chances your site will be found. When it comes to keywords, think big.

You want your site to be found via THOUSANDS of different phrases every month. Then you can lure that traffic to your best money-generating pages or to your newsletter sign-up page. Also, search engines prefer fresh sites which keep gradually adding new  content. Don't let your site go stale.

Super affiliate James Martell says:
"My own rule of thumb is this: Add a minimum of 1 article per week, 2 preferably. Adding an article daily is euphoria and adding 1 every sixhours, well, that's the best.
